SESAC Hosts 5th Annual Songwriters Bootcamp
(Los Angeles, CA) SESAC, the nation’s most progressive performing rights organization, drew over 250 attendees to the fifth annual Songwriters Bootcamp on July 20, at LA’s Skirball Cultural Center. The event symposium is devoted to offering information on all aspects of the music industry to artists, songwriters, producers and publishers offering panel lectures and discussions courtesy of an array of established writers, producers and industry insiders. The event featured such panels as FILM TV REALITY CHECK which offered helpful tips to get music in motion pictures and television; HIGH SCORE! TIPS & TECHNIQUES FOR WRITING GAME MUSIC which featured an insider’s guide on the aesthetic, creative, and technical challenges of creating music for videogames and MERGING METHODS FOR THE 21st CENTURY ARTIST which was an enlightening symposium on the future of artists and record labels
Renowned songwriter, producer and music industry executive Billy Mann was the day’s featured speaker and delivered an informative and riveting presentation on his career and advice for songwriters, artists and publishers. Digital guru and music industry tastemaker Ted Cohen and Los Angeles Times Technology writer Jon Healey offered thoughts on the industry's past, present and future and why trends and change continue to evolve the creative industry. The SESAC Songwriters Bootcamp was sponsored by M Magazine and event partners included Icelandic Glacial Water, Blue Mics, House Of Marley and Sprint.
